Biography

Canadian alternative rock band The Darcys formed in 2005 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, before moving to Toronto. Initiated by songwriters Jason Couse and Wes Marskell, the band takes its name from the surnames of characters in Jane Austen's novel Pride and Prejudice. Evolving as a quartet on the release of debut album Endless Water (2007), then as a quintet on The Darcys (2011), the band covered Steely Dan's album Aja in its entirety in an alternative format in 2012. The following year, Warring was nominated for a Juno Award, while 2016's Centerfold saw the band return to the original duo in a more electronic style, led by producer Shawn Everett. Returning to the alternative rock of their early days, the original duo subsequently recorded the albums Fear and Loneliness (2020) and Rendering Feelings (2024), four of whose tracks entered Billboard's Canadian Rock Songs chart.
