The Cows was an American noise rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, formed in 1986 with Kevin Rutmanis on bass, Thor Eisentrager on guitar, Norm Rogers on vocals, and Sandris Rutmanis on drums. After Norm Rogers left to join The Jayhawks, Shannon Selberg took over as frontman in February 1987. Their first album Taint Pluribus Taint Unum was released in 1987, followed by their debut single "Chow" (1988). They released nine studio albums, including Daddy Has a Tail! (1989) and Cunning Stunts (1992), primarily on Amphetamine Reptile Records. Known for their raucous live performances, the band disbanded in 1998. They were honored with a star on the outside mural of the Minneapolis nightclub First Avenue, recognizing their significant contribution to the city's music culture.
