Biography

The Cool Notes are a British pop-funk group formed in South London in 1979. The band, consisting of seven members with both vocal and instrumental talents, gained prominence in the mid-1980s. They first released music in 1981 with their debut album Down to Earth and early singles including "Meant to Be" followed by "Spend the Night" in 1985, which peaked at number 11 on the UK charts. This success marked the beginning of a string of chart hits for The Cool Notes. Following this success, The Cool Notes released their second album Have a Good Forever later that year. In 1986, they followed up with two more hit singles: "Into the Motion" and "Momentary Vision" These releases continued to highlight the group's musical prowess and ability to create catchy, danceable tunes. The Cool Notes' career was marked by notable achievements. Their music resonated with audiences, earning them a dedicated fan base and critical acclaim. Despite their relatively short career, spanning from 1979 to 1993, The Cool Notes left a notable mark on the pop-funk genre of the 1980s. During their active years, several compilations were released, including Best of the Cool Notes in 1990. Later compilations include The Unreleased Demos (2012) and The PWL Dayz (2016), showcasing their enduring influence on the genre.
