The Cloud Room, an American band based in Brooklyn, New York, was formed by J Stuart. Their self-titled debut album, released in 2005, featured the hit "Hey Now Now", which gained popularity on MP3 blogs and was named one of Rolling Stone's top ten singles of 2006. The band faced early challenges, including a false positive HIV test result for J Stuart and a fire that destroyed their equipment during the recording of their second album. Despite these setbacks, they became the first unsigned band to be used in an international ad campaign when Pepsi featured "Hey Now Now" in a 2007 commercial directed by Frédéric Planchon. The band performed at the Sopot Festival in Poland in 2007, and they released their EP Please Don't Almost Kill Me in 2008. In 2012, they released the album Zither, featuring the track "Crashing in Love".
