Biography

The Capes, a British indie rock band from South London, formed in 2002, consisting of Kris Barratt on vocals and guitar, Richard Gladman on keyboards, Rupert Cresswell on bass, Nick Cresswell on guitar and keyboards, and Rupert Phelps on drums. They began rehearsing together at Goldsmiths College in South London before releasing their debut EP Taste in 2005 through Hard Soul Records. Their first album, Hello, followed in 2006. The band toured extensively in the United States, including an appearance at SXSW and favorable reviews from publications like Pitchfork Media and Cokemachineglow. Despite these achievements, the band parted ways with Hard Soul Records in late 2006 due to a lack of support. They subsequently signed with Fabtone records in Japan, who released Hello domestically on January 10, 2007, with additional tracks. The Capes disbanded in 2008.
