Biography

The Boy Least Likely To is an English indie pop duo formed in Wendover, Buckinghamshire, by composer‑multi‑instrumentalist Pete Hobbs and lyricist‑singer Jof Owen, who both grew up in the village and met at school. Their first release, the 7" single "Paper Cuts" in 2003, marked the beginning of an independent career under their own label, Too Young to Die. The duo followed with a series of singles, culminating in the debut album The Best Party Ever in February 2005, which compiled their early tracks and five new songs; the album was later released in the United States in 2006 and entered Pitchfork’s top 50 albums of 2005 and Rough Trade Shop’s top 100. In April 2009, after label difficulties, they issued Law of the Playground, featuring singles such as "Every Goliath Has Its David" and "When Life Gives Me Lemons I Make Lemonade". A seasonal project, Christmas Special, followed in December 2010, and the third studio effort, The Great Perhaps, arrived in 2013, including the collaboration "It Could’ve Been Me" with Gwenno Saunders. Their music has appeared in commercials for Coca‑Cola, General Electric, and ING Direct, and in films such as Easy A and Peter Rabbit. The Boy Least Likely To continues to record and tour, maintaining a presence in the UK alternative rock scene.
