Biography
The Boat People were an Australian indie pop band formed in Brisbane in 2000. The group, consisting of James O'Brien, Robin Waters, Charles Dugan, and Tony Garrett, began performing in the local music scene early that year and released their debut self-titled EP The Boat People in October 2000. Their second EP, Squeaky Clean EP, followed in 2002, followed by Three Pieces for a Small Ensemble in 2003. The band's first studio album, Yesyesyesyesyes, was released in August 2005 and included the singles "Clean" and "Unsettle My Heart". After extensive touring, including their first overseas performance at the Musexpo conference in Los Angeles, they returned to the studio and released their second full-length album, Chandeliers, in 2008. The band's third studio album, Dear Darkly, was released in July 2010 with "Echo Stick Guitars" as the lead single.
