The Birds of Satan, a progressive hard rock supergroup from Los Angeles, California, was formed in 2014 by Taylor Hawkins, then the drummer for Foo Fighters, and also composed of Wiley Hodgden and Mick Murphy. The band evolved from Chevy Metal, a cover band specializing in performances of groups like Black Sabbath, Queen, and Van Halen. Their debut album, The Birds of Satan, was released in 2014, featuring contributions from Dave Grohl, Pat Smear, and Rami Jaffee. The album received positive reviews, notably from Rolling Stone magazine. Before the album was released, the band unveiled a promotional single titled "Thanks for the Line."
