The Big Wu, a rock jam band from Minnesota, was founded in 1992 at St. Olaf College by Chris Castino, Terry VanDeWalker, and Jason Fladager. The group initially played cover material but soon incorporated songs from artists like The Grateful Dead and Bob Dylan into their live performances. Their breakthrough came with a tribute performance for Jerry Garcia in August 1995. In September 1997, they released their debut album Tracking Buffalo Through the Bathtub. The band's extensive touring built a loyal fan base known as the "Wu Family." Notable albums include Folktales (2000), Spring Reverb (2002), and Tool For Evening (2004). Although they have not toured extensively since 2006, The Big Wu continued to perform periodic shows in Minnesota and nearby states.
