Biography

The Band of Heathens, an American rock band from Austin, Texas, was formed in 2005 by Colin Brooks, Ed Jurdi, and Gordy Quist. The trio initially performed individually at Momo's club but later collaborated as a group, eventually becoming known as The Band of Heathens after a misprint in a local newspaper. Their first recording, Live from Momo's, released in 2006, brought them national attention and earned them the "Best New Band" title at the 2007 Austin Music Awards. In May 2008, they released their self-titled studio album, produced by Ray Wylie Hubbard, which reached number one on the Americana Music Association's radio charts. The band continued to release successful albums including One Foot in the Ether (2009) and Top Hat Crown & the Clapmaster's Son (2011), both of which topped the Americana Radio Charts.
