Biography

The Asylum Choir was an American rock duo formed in the late 1960s, consisting of keyboardist Leon Russell and guitarist Marc Benno. The group's debut album, Look Inside the Asylum Choir, was released in 1968 under Smash Records. A second album, Asylum Choir II, was recorded in 1969 but delayed until late 1971 due to contract disputes; it peaked at number 70 on the Billboard 200 in 1972. Russell and Benno both went on to successful solo careers, with Russell known for his creative approach to songwriting and multi-track recording techniques.
