Leathercoated Minds was an American studio-based band formed in 1966 and consisted of J.J. Cale on guitar, James Markham on vocals, Jimmy Karstein on drums, Roger Tillison on vocals and bass, and Terrye Tillison on vocals. Leathercoated Minds produced their sole album, A Trip Down the Sunset Strip, in 1967, which featured cover songs such as "Eight Miles High" and "Mr. Tambourine Man". The band disbanded shortly after its release. Following the group's dissolution, J.J. Cale went on to become a solo artist. All members of Leathercoated Minds passed away between 2013 and 2022: J.J. Cale died on July 26, 2013; Roger Tillison passed on December 9, 2013; Terrye Tillison died on June 26, 2018; James Markham passed on September 21, 2018; Jimmy Karstein died March 27, 2022.
