Biography
Terveet Kädet, a Finnish hardcore punk band, was formed in Tornio in January 1980 by vocalist Veli-Matti "Läjä" Ãijälä. The group initially consisted of Ãijälä, guitarist Tiimo Viik, bassist Piäsky, and drummer Peedro. Their first releases were the Rock laahausta vastaan (1980) and TK II (1981), both released on Ãijäläs own label IKBAL with a limited pressing of 200 copies each. In 1982, after signing with Poko Rekords, they released the EP Ãäretön joulu. The band's debut album, Terveet Kädet, was released in 1983 and saw international distribution through Rock-O-Rama in Germany and Brazil. Following the death of drummer Jari "Walde" Wahlman in 1984, Ãijäläs younger brother Timo "Tilli" Ãijälä took over on drums. The band continued to release albums, including The Horse (1985), Oma koloni EP (1988), and Anno Domini EP (1989). In 2006, Terveet Kädet played their final concert at the Qstock Festival in Oulu.
