Biography

María del Rosario Graciela Rayas Trejo, known professionally as Tehua, was born on September 21, 1943, in Querétaro, Mexico. She began her career as a singer in the early 1970s after moving to Mexico City at age 26. Initially inspired by Lucha Villa's style, Tehua soon developed her own unique voice and started performing in local bars. Her repertoire included traditional Mexican songs from various regions. She collaborated with notable artists like Óscar Chávez and Amparo Ochoa, and participated in educational programs like Caminito and Sábados con Saldaña. Tehua's discography spans multiple albums, including the Añoranzas Mexicanas series and live recordings such as Teatro de la Ciudad de México, Recital en Vivo. Her career was marked by a focus on cultural preservation rather than commercial success. Tehua passed away in Mexico City on August 21, 2014.
