O Teatro Mágico is a band from Brazil, originating in Osasco, São Paulo State. The group was founded by singer Fernando Anitelli in 2003, and boasts a large line-up of musicians and circus performers, with Anitelli being the groupâs main creative force. O Teatro Mágico is known for the theatricality of their live shows, their musical eclecticness and their radical and innovative approach to album releases (making all their music available for free download on their website, long before the age of streaming platforms). The groupâs live shows incorporate elements of other performance arts, such as dance and acrobatics. Mixing the rock, pop, folk and Brazilian popular music genres, the group strives to be an inclusive experience that appeals to all generations and social classes. After making their debut with Entrada Para Raros (2003), the group released six other albums. 2011âs A Sociedade do Espetáculo includes the smash hit âNosso Pequeno Casteloâ (named âHit of the Yearâ at the 2012 VMB awards) as well as the folk-tinged ballad "Canção da Terra." O Teatro Mágico has sold over 2 million albums over the course of their career, making them one of the largest independent music projects in Brazilâs history. In 2007, they played for a record-setting audience of 40,000 people in São Paulo. In 2020, the group released three stripped-down acoustic singles: âPalavra,â âAna e o Mar,â and âQuando a Fe Ruge.â
