Biography

Takako Uehara, born January 14, 1983, in Tomigusuku, Okinawa, is a Japanese singer and actress best known as a member of the idol group SPEED. She debuted in August 1996 as part of SPEED, serving as a dancer and chorus member during the group’s rise to national popularity in the late 1990s. In March 1999, produced by Ryuichi Kawamura, she launched her solo career with the single "my first love". The song reached number 1 on the Oricon chart and sold over 500,000 copies, establishing her as a successful solo artist alongside her group activities. Later that year, she starred in the film Dream Maker, earning the Japan Academy Prize for New Actor with co-star ISSA. After SPEED’s initial disbandment in 2000, Uehara continued modeling and acting, notably serving for four consecutive years as a campaign model for Shiseido’s Proudia line. In 2007, she released her first solo best album, départ〜takako uehara single collection〜, summarizing her solo work.
