Tai Orathai â born Orathai Dabkham on March 27, 1980, in Na Chaluai District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, Thailand â is a luk thung (Thai country music) singer who has been nicknamed âSao Dok Yaah.â When she was 11, her parents separated, and she went to live with her grandmother. In charge of her three younger siblings, Tai Orathai was determined to be successful so she could earn money to help pay bills. After graduating from Ramkhamhaeng University with a bachelorâs degree in Faculty of Mass Communication, she pursued music as a career, Signing with the GMM Grammy label, Tai Orathai released her debut album, Sao Dok Yaah, in 1980. The album went on to sell two million copies and the title of the album â which translates into Miss Grass Flower - became her nickname. Tai Orathaiâs next two albums - Duak Yah Nai Pah Poon (2002) and Kho Jai Gun Now (2004) â were also successful with each selling over a million copies. Since then, she has released many studio albums including Mah Jark Din (2007), Fun Young Glai Jai Young Now (2010), and Sang Dai Sang Leaw (2018). Tai Orathai began an acting career in 2006, appearing in the film Poo Pitak Ruk Tur but she became more serious as an actress when she began appearing in movies and on TV shows more frequently beginning in 2015. Continuing with her singing career, she continued to release singles including âFæn HÌÄy Pá» HÌá»Åµ PhÌx Rwy.â
