Biography

Monkan Kankoon is a Thai singer who performs in the traditional genres of Mor lam and Luk thung. Born Kittikhun Boonkhamchoon on July 20, 1973, in the Yasothon Province, he inherited his father's love for singing and made his official recording debut under the name Ponrnphet Boonkhamchun on a collaborative album with fellow singer Pornsak Songsaeng. After working with RS Public Company Limited and serving in the military for 2 years, he adopted the alias Monkan Kankoon and landed a deal with GMM Grammy, Thailand's biggest media conglomerate. Since his debut in 2005 with the LP Yang Koay Thee Soai Derm, he has released a total of 9 studio albums that left a lasting impression on Thai popular music, including Yam Tor Khor Toe Haa (2006), Trong Nan Kue Na Thee Trong Nee Kue Hua Jai (2012), and Hai Khao Rak Ther Muean Ther Rak Khaw (2016). Some of his biggest hits include "Rim Fang Nong Harn," "Roang Ngan Pid Kid Hod Nong," "Chee Wit Puea Chat Rak Nee Puea Ther," "Ai Jon Ton Dai Bor," and "Kham Wa Hak Kan Mun Hear Tim Sai." In 2022, Monkan Kankoon released the single "Pen Kiat Lai," which peaked at Number 93 on the Thai charts.
