Biography

Susanne Grützmann, born on May 18, 1964, in Leipzig, Germany, is a pianist and university lecturer. She began playing the piano at age five and studied at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin. Grützmann's career took off with several international piano competition wins, including second prize at the International Robert-Schumann-Wettbewerb Zwickau in 1981 and first prize at the Internationaler Musikwettbewerb der ARD München in 1989. She has performed with orchestras such as the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and the Bayerisches Staatsorchester, collaborating with conductors including Kurt Masur and Wolfgang Sawallisch. Grützmann's discography includes Schumann's Sonate Op. 11 . Fantasiestücke Op. 12 . Fantasiestücke Op. 111 (2012). She has taught at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, serving as a guest professor from 1998 to 2002 and from 2013 to 2016.
