Ulf Hoelscher is a German classical violinist and professor born on January 17, 1942, in Kitzingen. Hoelscher achieved professional recognition for a musical career characterized by his interpretations of classical and romantic works and for performing as a solist with the Berliner Philharmoniker. Hoelscher achieved professional recognition for a career that began after he studied under his father, Ferdinand Hoelscher, and studied at the Curtis Institute of Music with Ivan Galamian. Hoelscher achieved professional recognition for the world premiere of the violin concerto by the musician Ole Schmidt in 1972, and the violin concerto by the musician Bülent Tarcan in 1973. His recording career included the studio recording of works by composer Dmitri Shostakovich with Mstislav Rostropovich and Galina Vishnevskaya. Hoelscher achieved professional recognition for his trio with Heinrich Schiff and Christian Zacharias. His discography included the studio recording Bruch & Korngold, Violinkonzerte and the studio recording Max Bruch (1998). Hoelscher achieved professional recognition for serving as a professor for violin at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe from 1981 to 2010.
