Biography

In business since 1991, British techno and house band Sunscreem has made a name for itself on rave stages and in the charts on both sides of the Atlantic. Hailing from Chelmsford, Essex, the band features singer Lucia Holm, keyboardist Paul Carnell and other collaborators who have changed over the years, such as guitarists Darren Woodford and Wayne Simms, bassist Rob Fricker and drummer Sean Wright. It was at a warehouse rave that Holm, then a cellist with Dream Academy, and Carnell met to form the project. Success was immediate with the EPs "Walk On" and "Pressure", followed by the international hit "Love U More" in 1992, which reached No. 1 in the American dance charts. The 03 album, which brings these tracks together, includes others such as a cover of Marianne Faitfull's "Broken English" and "Perfect Motion". Distributed by Columbia, Sunscreem never left the charts, whether with extracts from the following albums Change or Die (1996) and New Dark Times (1997) or the successive compilations Looking at You: Club Anthems (1998) and Ten Mile Bank (2001). Notably, "Looking at You" and "Catch" reached No. 2 in the U.S. dance charts. In 2002, the new version "Perfect Motion 2002" reached #71 in the UK. Always present on stage, Sunscreem returned to the studio in 2015 with the album Sweet Life and released a remixed version of New Dark Times in 2025.
