Sultans of String, a Canadian musical group based in Toronto, Ontario, was formed by producer and musician Chris McKhool and Kevin Laliberté. The band blends Spanish flamenco, Arabic folk, Cuban rhythms, and French Manouche Django-jazz. McKhool and Laliberté began performing together in 2004, with their debut album Luna released in 2007, winning a Musique du Monde Award and an Ontario Independent Music Award for Best Song and Best Instrumental. Subsequent albums include Yalla Yalla! (2009), which won the Instrumental Group of the Year award at the Canadian Folk Music Awards, and Move (2011). In 2013, they released Symphony!, a collaboration with John Morris Russell and Rebecca Pellett. Their 2017 release Christmas Caravan featured special guests such as Richard Bona, Nikki Yanofsky, Rubén Blades, and the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, reaching number 6 on the Billboard World Music charts.
