Biography

Styles of Beyond was an American underground hip hop group from Los Angeles, California, that formed in 1994. The ensemble consisted of MCs Ryan Patrick Maginn and Takbir Bashir, DJ Colton Raisin Fisher, and producer Jason Rabinowitz. They began their career appearing on The Wake Up Show in the late 1990s and released their debut studio album, 2000 Fold, (1998). This was followed by the album Megadef (2003), which featured the track “Superstars” (2003). In 2005, the group collaborated with Mike Shinoda on the Fort Minor album The Rising Tied (2005), appearing on the single “Remember the Name” (2005). After signing with Machine Shop Recordings, they released the mixtape Razor Tag (2007), which featured the song “Second to None” (2007) from the Transformers film soundtrack. They left the label in 2008 and eventually released their third studio album, Reseda Beach, (2012) through Dirty Version Records. A remix of their track “Nine Thou” appeared in various media and games. The group became inactive in 2017.
