Biography

Streetheart is a Canadian rock band from Regina, Saskatchewan, formed in 1977. They initially consisted of keyboard player Daryl Gutheil and bassist Ken "Spider" Sinnaeve, who later relocated to Winnipeg and added singer Kenny Shields. After renaming the band Streetheart when guitarist Paul Dean and drummer Matt Frenette joined, they released their debut album Meanwhile Back in Paris... (1978). The following year saw the release of Under Heaven Over Hell (1979), which included a disco-hybrid cover version of "Under My Thumb" (1979) by the Rolling Stones. In 1980, Streetheart won the Juno Award for "Most Promising Group of the Year". They achieved significant chart success with six gold and four platinum albums in Canada. Their notable songs included "Under My Thumb", which reached number 20, "What Kind of Love is This" (1982), which reached number 22, and "Here Comes the Night" (1979), which reached number 60. Shields died on July 21, 2017.
