Biography

Storm Corrosion was a brief collaboration between two well known rock frontmen - Orpeth's Mikael Åkerfeldt and Porcupine Tree's Steven Wilson. The project burned brightly for a short time and spawned just one self-titled album. The band's music is an intriguing mix of the two men's diverse musical tastes and artists such as Comus, Steve Reich, Talk Talk and even Scott Walker are cited as influences. Their album was well received by critics and as well as the obvious rock influences also displays a more mellow side to the guitar playing of Åkerfeldt and Wilson which was less apparent when they played for their respective bands. The album reached number 45 in the UK and was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2012 in the Best Surround Sound Category.
