Biography

Steve Ashley, born on March 9, 1946, in Perivale, London, England, is an English singer-songwriter, recording artist, multi-instrumentalist, writer, and graphic designer. In his early teens, Ashley immersed himself in rock 'n' roll, blues, and American folk music. By 1962, he performed in various bands and folk clubs, focusing on English traditional folksong. He formed the Albion Country Band with Ashley Hutchings and other notable musicians in 1972, but the band disbanded after nine months. Following this, he signed a solo recording deal with Gull Records, leading to the release of his debut solo album, Stroll On, which received widespread critical acclaim. Throughout his career, Ashley released several albums, including Speedy Return (1976) and Mysterious Ways (1990).
