Biography

Stéphane Wrembel, born February 27, 1974, in Paris, is a French guitarist specializing in gypsy jazz. He began classical piano at four, took up guitar at sixteen, and studied at the American School of Modern Music in Paris before graduating summa cum laude from Berklee College of Music on a scholarship. Wrembel released his debut album, Introducing Stéphane Wrembel, in 2001, followed by Barbes-Brooklyn (2006), Gypsy Rumble (2008), and Bistro Fada (2011). From 2016 onward, he issued the The Django Experiment series, culminating in The Django Experiment V (2020), and in 2019 released Django l'impressionniste, a collection of Django Reinhardt compositions. His work has also appeared in several Woody Allen films, including Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Midnight in Paris, and Rifkin's Festival.
