Biography

Stefano D'Orazio (1948-2020) was the drummer, lyricist and occasional vocalist for the Italian band Pooh, one of Italy's most iconic pop-rock bands. His style was strongly influenced by symphonic pop and melodic rock, with a strong focus on lyrics, vocal harmonies and rich orchestrations. A member of the band since 1971, he was involved in some twenty albums up to September 2009, writing songs and sometimes interpreting them. Although he returned for a reunion in 2015, D'Orazio has meanwhile embarked on a solo career marked by four musicals, Aladin - Il musical (2010) and Mamma Mia - Il musical (2011), W Zorro - Il musical (2012) and Cercasi Cerenentola - Il musical (2014), and collaborations with Roby Facchinetti. Afflicted by several pathologies accentuated by Covid-19, he died on November 6, 2020, at the age of 72.
