Biography

Stefan Demert, born Stefan on December 15, 1939, in Nyköping, Sweden, was a Swedish singer and songwriter. His music career began with his debut album Visor för smutsiga öron in 1970. This was followed by Marsch på er alla pannkakor! in 1971. Demert's notable songs include "Balladen om den kaxiga myran," "Till SJ," and "Anna Anaconda," the latter of which featured his then-wife, actress and singer Jeja Sundström. Many of his songs charted on Svensktoppen throughout the 1970s. Demert, along with Sundström, Sid Jansson, and Björn Ståbi formed the group Visor & bockfot, with whom they toured extensively across Sweden. He received the Nils Ferlin Prize in 2000 and the Ulf Peder Olrog Prize in 2004. Demert passed away on July 9, 2018.
