Carl Edvard Persson, born on January 17, 1888, in Sankt Pauli parish, Malmö, Sweden, was a Swedish actor and singer. His first screen role came in the 1923 silent film Studenterna på Tröstehult. Throughout his career, Persson made 45 feature films, often portraying characters from Scania. As a singer, he released numerous records, including notable songs like "Kalle på Spången", "Jag har bott vid en landsväg", and "Vi klarar oss nog ändå". In 1947, Persson embarked on a 100-day tour in the US, performing in New York City and 35 other American cities. He passed away on September 19, 1957, in Helsingborg. In 1979, the Kvällsposten newspaper established the annual Edvard Prize in his honor to award prominent figures in Swedish entertainment, comedy, acting, and music.
