Biography

Stalingrad Cowgirls, a Finnish punk rock band from Salla in Lapland, was formed in 2005 by siblings Enni Kivelä and Riina Kivelä along with their childhood friend Henna Vaarala. The group gained early recognition by coming second in the Simerock band competition in Rovaniemi in spring of 2006. Their debut album Somewhere High was released on September 19, 2007, and peaked at number 30 on the Finnish official album chart. The band also opened for notable acts such as Iggy & The Stooges, Muse, Avril Lavigne, and Negative. In 2010, their second album Kiss Your Heart Goodbye peaked at number 27 on the Finnish official album chart. Stalingrad Cowgirls disbanded after a final performance at the Simerock festival in Rovaniemi on August 11, 2012.
