Biography

Stackridge, a British progressive rock band formed in 1969 by Andy Davis and James "Crun" Walter, emerged from the remnants of Grytpype Thynne. The band's early gigs included their first London performance at The Temple in February 1970 and appearances at the inaugural Glastonbury Festival that September. Stackridge signed to MCA Records in 1971, releasing their self-titled debut album later that year. Their third album, The Man in the Bowler Hat, released in 1974, reached number 23 on the UK Albums Chart and was their highest-charting release. Despite critical acclaim, the band faced lineup changes and internal strife, leading to their disbandment in April 1976 after a final show. Stackridge reunited in 1999 for a Come Back to Front UK tour, releasing Something for the Weekend that same year.
