Sonic's Rendezvous Band was an American rock and roll band from Ann Arbor, Michigan, formed in 1974 by veterans of the Detroit rock scene, including Fred "Sonic" Smith, Scott Morgan, Gary Rasmussen, and Scott Asheton. Their only single, "City Slang", was released in 1978 and showcased their high-energy sound. The group toured as the backing band for Iggy Pop in 1978, without Morgan, and disbanded in 1980. Despite their brief career, the group gained renewed interest in the late 1990s with the release of compilations such as Sweet Nothing (1999) and City Slang (2000). In 2006, a six-disc box set titled Sonic's Rendezvous Band was released, followed by the album Masonic Temple, Detroit 1978 (2007).
