Biography
Producer, manager, talent scout, underground guru, composer and singer, Kim Fowley (1939-2015) devoted six decades of his life to rock'n'roll and built his own scandal-ridden legend. Producer, manager and songwriter, his impressive roster of hits includes Paul Revere & the Raiders, The Seeds, Gene Vincent, Jonathan & the Modern Lovers, Alice Cooper, Kiss, The Runaways and Ariel Pink, starting with "Alley Oop" (The Hollywood Argyles) and "Nut Rocker " (B. Bumble & the Stingers). A colorful character who was always there at the right time, he wrote his name into the margins of the official history of rock'n'roll, garage rock, psychedelic rock and punk. He recorded some thirty albums, as uneven as they were wild, and always with a sulphurous taste. Some of them, such as Outrageous (1968), I'm Bad (1972), International Heroes (1973) and Animal God of the Streets (1975), are a delight to fans. Still active in the following decades, Kim Fowley died of bladder cancer on January 15, 2015, at the age of 75.
