Socratic, a rock band from Cranford and Linden, New Jersey, United States, was formed in 1999 by childhood friends Kevin Bryan and Thomas Stratton. The group initially included Patrick Tobin on bass and later added Duane Okun as lead guitarist and backup vocalist. Socratic released the EP It's Getting Late in 2002 after signing to No Milk Records. In 2004, the band signed to Drive-Thru Records and released their first full-length album, Lunch for the Sky, produced by John Goodmanson, in 2005. The band toured extensively throughout their career, performing in Japan, Australia, and across the United States. Notable subsequent releases include the EP Just Turn (2006), the Mark Hoppus-produced album Spread the Rumors (2008), and their self-titled album (2012). The band disbanded in 2014. In 2025, Socratic performed a reunion show in Asbury Park to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Lunch for the Sky.
