Biography

Slowcoaster, a Canadian indie rock band from Sydney, Nova Scotia, was formed in November 1999 by guitarist Steven MacDougall, drummer Devon Strang, and bassist Mike LeLievre. The group initially promoted themselves through their own management company, House of Rock, releasing two EPs before adding percussionist Darren Gallop in 2002. Their first full-length album, Where are They Going?, was released in 2004. The band gained national attention with their single "Patio" and won Music Nova Scotia's Alternative Group of the Year award in 2005. They followed up with Future Radio (2007) and The Darkest of Discos (2010), winning ECMA awards for Alternative Recording of the Year in both 2006 and 2011. In 2023, they re-released Where are They Going? digitally, which was followed by the release of Apples & Oranges (2023).
