Sister Hazel, an American rock band from Gainesville, Florida, formed in 1993 and was named for Sister Hazel Williams, a local missionary. Originally consisting of Ken Block, Jett Beres, and Andrew Copeland, the group released its self-titled debut album Sister Hazel in 1994 through their independent record label Croakin' Poets. Shortly after, singer/guitarist Ryan Newell and drummer Mark Trojanowski joined the band. In 1997, Sister Hazel's second album ...Somewhere More Familiar sold approximately 30,000 copies, prompting Universal Records to sign the band. The re-release of ...Somewhere More Familiar featured the single "All for You", which hit number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and quickly became one of their most successful single. Their third album Fortress, released in 2000 by Universal, included minor pop hits "Champagne High" and "Change Your Mind". After splitting from Universal, Sister Hazel released their fourth studio album Chasing Daylight on the Sixthman label in 2003. The band continued to tour and hold annual fan gathering events. Their album Absolutely was released on October 10, 2006, and received rave reviews from critics. In July 2009, Ford Motor Company announced a collaboration with Sister Hazel to promote their new Sync technology. The band's seventh studio album of original songs Release was released in August 2009 and reached number 37 on the Billboard 200. Their ninth studio album Lighter in the Dark, released in February 2016, marked their first country album. Subsequent releases include Elements (2020) and Sand, Sea & Crash Debris (2024).
