Siegfried âSiggiâ Kessler, born on February 5, 1935, in Saarbrücken, Germany, was a German-born French pianist and composer of modern jazz, who occasionally also performed as a clarinetist and flautist. After early classical training in an orphanage, he turned to jazz following a record of Stan Kenton and soon joined the French freeâjazz scene. In 1969, he recorded Live at the Gill's Club with Barre Phillips and Steve McCall. He collaborated with Joe Henderson, Dexter Gordon, Archie Shepp, and Daunik Lazro. He passed away on January 22, 2007, in La Grande Motte.
