Shitdisco was a Scottish danceâpunk group formed in 2003 in Glasgow while its members studied at the Glasgow School of Art; the lineâup included Joel Stone on bass, guitar and vocals, Joe Reeves on bass, guitar and vocals, Jan Lee on bass and keyboards, and Darren Cullen on drums. Their breakthrough came with the single "Disco Blood" / "I Know Kung Fu" released in Decemberâ¯2005, which sold out quickly and secured a deal with Fierce Panda Recordings. The band followed with the Reactor Party EP on 23â¯Octoberâ¯2006, which entered the UK Singles Chart at numberâ¯73, and the fullâlength album Kingdom Of Fear on 17â¯Aprilâ¯2007, produced by former guitarist and producer Luke Smith and featuring tracks such as "Reactor Party" and "I Know Kung Fu". After touring extensively across the United Kingdom, Europe, Bangkok and Istanbul, and supporting The Raptureâs UK/Irish tour in Marchâ¯2007, Shitdisco released the EP I Know KungâFu on 12â¯Novemberâ¯2007. The group disbanded in 2009, concluding a career marked by underground club success, chart presence, and a reputation for energetic live performances that blended influences from Talking Heads, The Rapture, and early danceârock pioneers.
