Sheryl Bailey, born May 20, 1966, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is an American jazz guitarist and educator. She began playing guitar at age 13, initially drawn to rock music before discovering jazz through Wes Montgomery's radio performances. Bailey attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston. In 1998, she moved to New York City to focus on her performing career. Her debut album, Little Misunderstood, was released in 1995. Subsequent albums include Reunion of Souls (2001), The Power of 3 (2002), and Bullâs Eye (2004). In 2006, she performed at the Pittsburgh Jazz Festival. Her album, A New Promise, released in 2010 by MCG Jazz, is a tribute to jazz guitarist Emily Remler. Bailey has taught at Berklee, Stanford University, and the Collective School of Music in New York City.
