Biography
Shenseea, born Chinsea Linda Lee in Mandeville (Jamaica), on October 1, 1996, released her first dancehall singles while still in her teens. In 2013 she worked with Jahmiel on the track âTell Meâ. Her relentless touring, and her working as a spokeswoman for many major product lines increased her visibility, leading to her breakthrough success on the 2017 single âLoodiâ with dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel. She built a worldwide following opening for Sean Paul on his European tour later that year following their work together on the single âRollingâ. She appeared on Christina Aguileraâs album track âRight Movesâ in 2018, and collaborated with Tyga for her first release on Interscope records, 2019âs single âBlessedâ. In 2020 she dropped the single âIDKWâ, a collaboration with American rappers Young Thug and Swae Lee, and continued to sign endorsement deals. In 2021, she collaborated with Kanye West on his album Donda, appearing with Roddy Rich on the Billboard Hot 100 charted hit "Pure Souls" (No. 52), and receiving a Grammy Award's nomination for Album of the Year. She subsequently received a MOBO Award for Best Reggae Act, before hosting the MTV Video Music Awards in 2022. After touring with Sean Paul and Myke Towers, Shenseea released the album Never Gets Late Here (2024), which was nominated for a 2025 Grammy Awards for Best Reggae Album. The non-album single "Dating Szn" followed in late 2024.
