Shellshag, a two-piece punk rock band from San Francisco, California, formed in 1997. The duo, consisting of John "Shellhead" Driver and Jennifer Shagawat, began their musical journey at Jennifer's DIY venue, Starcleaners Warehouse. Their first EP was recorded by Gary Young. Shellshag gained traction through extensive touring, playing over 1,980 shows worldwide. They released their debut album Destroy Me I'm Yours in 2007, following it with Rumors in Disguise (2010), Fuck Society, Volume 1 (2012), and Shellshag Forever (2013). The band's song "Face to Face" from the latter became the theme for Chris Gethardâs podcast Beautiful Stories from Anonymous People. Shellshag also produced the film Here To Be Heard: The Story of The Slits and toured with the reformed Slits in 2009. In early 2019, they released a unique visual album titled 18 Sycamore, which chronicled their nearly 25-year friendship and performances.
