Biography
Shades of Rhythm, an electronic dance music group from Peterborough, United Kingdom, was formed in 1988. They gained significant traction during the late 1980s and mid-1990s, becoming notable figures in the early 1990s rave scene.
Their debut single "Homicide"/"Exorcist" was released on ZTT Records in January 1991. That year also saw the release of "Sweet Sensation", which sampled Patti LaBelle's "Something Special (Is Gonna Happen Tonight)", and "The Sound of Eden", which reached number 35 on the UK Singles Chart. Their debut album, Shades was released in 1991 but later reissued as The Album. The group remixed N-Tranceâs "Set You Free" and performed at major raves like Technodrome and Fantazia. In February 1993, they released the single "Sweet Revival (Keep It Comin)", followed by "Getting Away" in May. Their final chart outing was in June 1997 with "Psycho Base", which spent one week at number 57 on the UK Singles Chart. Members Kevin Lancaster and Nick Slater later formed the breakbeat duo The Drumattic Twins.
