Biography

Self Against City was a pop rock band from Sacramento, California. Formed in April 2004 by vocalist Jonathan Michael, guitarists Jack Matranga and Jeff LaTour, bassist Patrick O'Connor, and drummer Chris Trombley, the quintet recorded their first songs at Fat Cat Studios and uploaded them to PureVolume. This led to a record deal with Rushmore Records, making Self Against City the label's inaugural signing in November 2004. Their debut EP, Take It How You Want It, was released in 2005, featuring the single "The Process (Tonight)". The band embarked on their first nationwide tour with Houston Calls that same month. In 2007, they released their full-length album Telling Secrets to Strangers, which included the track "Becoming a Monster". Following lineup changes and tours with bands like Boys Like Girls and We the Kings, Self Against City disbanded in 2009.
