Schrotthagen is a duo founded in Munich in 2023. The group consists of film composer Dieter Schleip (* February 6, 1962 in Aachen) and producer Giovanni Berg (* 1997 in Munich). Both are film and television music experts who merge their skills. They began their collaboration during a film project, which gave rise to the idea for the duo. Schrotthagen coined the genre "cinematic techno". They merge electronic music with cinematic, orchestral elements. The style combines techno, trance and orchestral film music with emotionally dense soundscapes, atmospheric synthesizers and pulsating rhythms. In 2023, they release their first album Sturm und Drang. 2025 is followed by the second album Nostalgie und Traurigkeit, which is released on August 15, 2025 and contains twelve tracks. Well-known singles include "Blütezeit" and "Alle werden alt", which achieve high streaming figures. Other popular tracks in the repertoire include "Pain in my Heart" and "Blaue Blume". Schrotthagen is gaining attention through rapidly growing reach. With Sturm und Drang, they set standards with immersive sound quality - the album is available in Dolby Atmos. For the release of their second album, they are pursuing a sophisticated visual concept: each single is presented in a short film, all of which will culminate in a final music video short film on 15 August 2025, realized by a team that has been awarded the Grimme Prize, German Camera Prize and film awards.
