Sayaka Kamizono (born July 28, 1986) is a Japanese singer and songwriter from Hiroshima Prefecture, whose career spans over two decades and has evolved from enka to contemporary pop and jazz. She rose to prominence in 2002 when she won the Grand Prix at the “Japan Crown 40th Anniversary Audition,” selected from nearly 3,000 applicants. The following year, she debuted with the single Hajimete no Hito, gaining attention as a high school enka singer and earning the Newcomer Award at the 45th Japan Record Awards. By 2006, Kamizono shifted her style toward kayōkyoku, distancing herself from the enka label, and in 2007 she changed management to M.C. Project. In 2012, she went independent, later joining the girls’ unit Himerians in 2013 and celebrating her 10th anniversary with a dinner show in Hiroshima. She became an ambassador for Boat Race Heiwajima in 2015 and released her first jazz album in 2016, collaborating with Grammy-winning trumpeter Randy Brecker. From 2020, she embraced a new chapter as a singer-songwriter, releasing again and organizing the online festival Yell For All Fes!!. She continued to build momentum with Vogue (2021), her first national tour in 2022, and a 20th anniversary live in 2023. In 2024, Kamizono unveiled her first full original album You’re the One. Among its highlights is the track “Blue Rosa”(2025), showcasing her mature artistry and renewed direction as a self-driven creator.
