Samba Touré, born on June 15, 1968, in Timbuktu, Mali, is a Malian singer and guitarist. He moved to Bamako at age 25 and formed the multi-ethnic group Farafina Lolo, releasing two albums before leaving to form Super Lolo. Encouraged by Ali Farka Touré, Samba continued his guitar training and later joined Ali Farka Touré's band for international tours in 1997 and 1998. Upon returning to Mali, he formed the group Fondo and released his debut album Fondo in 2003, which included the hit "Anbafo". His international breakthrough came with Songhaï Blues, released in 2009 by World Music Network. Samba participated in the Ali Farka Touré Variations Tour in 2010 and received a Tamani Award for Best International Malian Album of the Year in 2011 for Crocodile Blues. He continued to release albums including Albala (2013), Gandadiko (2014), Wande (2018), and Binga (2021).
