Biography

Saetia, a New York City-based screamo band, was formed in February 1997 while members were attending New York University. The group's name originates from a misspelling of the Miles Davis track "Saeta" from his album Sketches of Spain. Saetia released their first single, "Saetia", in 1997 and followed it with "Eronel" in 1999 under the Witching Hour label. The band's lineup was marked by frequent changes, including the tragic death of bass player Alex Madara due to an allergic reaction in December 1998. Saetia disbanded in October 1999, but in 2001, Level Plane Records released A Retrospective, a compilation album featuring every recording the band made, and Secret Voice released Collected in 2016. The band reunited in April 2022 and released the track "Tendrils" in 2025.
