Biography

Rupa & the April Fishes is a global alternative music group from San Francisco, formed by Rupa Marya, who grew up in Punjab and later attended school in Aix-en-Provence, France. After moving to San Francisco, Marya began performing solo and eventually formed the band with cellist Ed Baskerville. They released the debut EP La Pêcheuse (2006), followed by their first album eXtraOrdinary rendition (2008). They followed up with the album Este mundo (2009). Their third album Build (2012) featured tracks in multiple languages, including a cover of The Clash's "Guns of Brixton".
