Runhild Gammelsæter, born in 1976 in Holmestrand, Norway, is a singer and biologist known for her contributions to death metal, doom metal, and heavy metal music. She moved to Ballard, Washington as an exchange student and joined Thorrâs Hammer, co-founded by Greg Anderson and Stephen OâMalley. Gammelsæter wrote lyrics and sang for the band, which released the demo Sannhet i Blodet and the EP Dommedagsnatt. After returning to Norway, she earned her Ph.D. from the University of Oslo in 2006. That same year, she co-founded the drone doom project Khlyst with James Plotkin and Tim Wyskida. In 2008, Gammelsæter released her solo dark ambient album Amplicon. She has continued to perform sporadically, including a reunion concert with Thorrâs Hammer at the Supersonic Festival in Birmingham in 2009.
